-River, Keep on Flowing-

I look out over the valley

From atop this tall, tall Pine

And I can see the river flowing

Over this land of mine.

There, on the bank of the river,

Sits a love that I once knew,

Her hair aglow in the sunlight,

Her eyes lost in sky of blue.

River, keep on flowing

River, flow for me

River, ease my heartaches,

And take my misery.

Where does she go at twilight?

The love that I once knew…

Does she go in search of tomorrow

In the arms of someone new?

River, keep on flowing

Over forgotten ground,

River, keep on flowing

Let my peace be found.

River, keep on flowing

River, flow for me

River, take my heartaches

Relieve my misery.

      2. That’s wonderful, Miriam. Saw a man on TV who fought on Guadacanal in WW2 – he looked so much younger than his years and spoke with the clarity of a young man… Me: more books to write, so I stay the course… ‘Regrets, I have a few, but then again, too few to mention’ – a “My Way” song-line. Wishing you well…

Lovely as a poem, but given your rich baritone voice … I think you have a hit on your hands, Billy Ray.

  10. I have poems from long ago that have the same air of sadness and wondering of where (time/a person/a place) went. This song is …. timeless and well done.
