I'm a young man in an old man's body, trying to catch up to myself, trying to find pieces of me I left back in a disconnected youth and the early years of manhood. I'm a stereotype of many in my generation who can play the 'blame game', yell 'foul', and 'let's start over'. But, we are what we are, the sum of all the scary kid-emotions we experienced, the gin mills and piano bars that became our sandboxes of pleasure - lotus eaters of the best (or, worst) kind, the love affairs that did not quite settle us down, the sad poetry and songs written in bars and motels along the way... A Dreamer! A Wanderlust! The world needs such fools as we to write our books, our poetry, our songs, to offset the madness that plagues the soul.
I've written fourteen books, over three hundred blog posts, in search of those pieces left somewhere in many parts of the globe. You can preview my books on the next page. There's even a Blog page...all my posts are not showing on this recently created blog page, but, if you want to read more, go to my official blog site and check out the archives: http://www.thefinalcurtain1
Writing for me is therapy for the soul.

She should have listened to her gut. He was a good con man and they will never see their money again.

Confidentially, I think Edie’s in on it. It did end rather abruptly. What I enjoyed was the authenticity you provided about real estate transactions. That adds to the story’s feeling of inner truth. It was just the ending that threw me, and Edie’s motivation for inventing the tale of the broker– if indeed it was all an extortion plot. As usual, your writing was smooth, the dialogue spot on.

Edie’s tale to Barry re the broker was simply ‘red herring’ – as you said – obviously, to make the ‘swindle’ more viable… You see through me too well, my idol! All the best. ♥

You are too funny! BTW, the house in question looks like a replica of my daughter’s house, also 1 1/2 MM. You been out in the neighborhood shootin’ snapshots? Just so’s it’s known, you are one of my favorite storytellers, Billy Ray. Dominique is on my queue to read, just one book away.

PS – Think I told, I sowed some oats in Bakersfield many years ago! Almost lived for a while at the Bakersfield Inn (?) – Not sure I’m correct on motel’s name, but they had a big bar and dance area – on the north edge on the highway going Madera, Fresno, et al – Freeway in there now, of course.. It was a time after a divorce, fell in love with a Bakersfield lady from England (Kay Bruce), a delightful woman..ooh, the memories eat me alive!

I was gonna say, I’m willing to take a dna along with my daughter. I know I’m the daddy, regardless of your wild oats! LOL
